Project Description

The recent Marshall Fire in Boulder County dramatically changed the landscape surrounding Coal Creek, which flows through the towns of Superior and Louisville, CO. The Coal Creek Trail is an important recreational resource for the community. Our team will be evaluating how the changes in water chemistry associated with the runoff from the burned landscape influences the algae and invertebrates in the stream. We will be collecting samples following rain events during the summer to understand the role of episodic inputs on the stream biota.

Special Requirements

Students must have taken applied ecology, CVEN3434, or environmental microbiology. Students should be able to participate in all day field sampling activities.听
