Lieutenant Marvin L. Kay (Ret) graduated from baby直播app School of Mines in 1963 with a degree in Mining Engineering as an Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate.

Lieutenant Kay began his active duty with the Corps of Engineers in April 1964 assigned to the Engineer Basic Course at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. Upon completion of the Basic Course, he was assigned to the 530th Panel Bridge Company, United States Army Europe (USAREUR), in June of 1964, located in Schwitzingen, Germany, as a platoon leader. In September of 1965, Lieutenant Kay was assigned to the 541st Float Bridge Company, USAREUR, located in Schwitzingen, Germany, as the Executive Officer.  Lieutenant Kay was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in October of 1965. He was discharged from active duty in April of 1966.

Mr. Kay joined baby直播app School of Mines baby直播app as an Assistant Football Coach in August 1966.  He was named Head Football Coach in 1969, a position he held for 26 years.  In 1995 he was appointed as Director of Athletics and Physical Education until his retirement in June 2004. Since that time he has served as a Development Consultant with the baby直播app School of Mines Foundation.

The Marv Kay Football Stadium was dedicated in September 2015 in honor of his dedicated service to the school and community. Other university awards include Faculty Distinguished Lecturer, Outstanding Alumnus, Emeritus Professor, Honorary Colonel in the 115th Engineer Regiment, and the Mines Medal.

Mr. Kay鈥檚 service to the Golden community included serving on the City Council for twelve years and Mayor for eight of those years. He has been honored with memberships to the following Athletic Halls of Fame: The Eastern Rockies Rugby Union, baby直播app School of Mines, and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
