Profile

Professor Weston鈥檚 research focuses on intellectuals, political culture, and media in modern China. In 2012 he published a co-edited collection entitled China in and beyond the Headlines (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers), and before that he published separate co-edited books on the same theme. In 2004 he published The Power of Position: Beijing University, Intellectuals and Chinese Political Culture, 1898-1929 (University of California Press).

Professor Weston鈥檚 new book, China in and beyond the Headlines, was released in late-summer 2012 and was named a Choice Outstanding Academic title for 2013. Professor Weston teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate classes on Chinese history. He is also interested in the field of World History and is preparing to teach courses in that field in the near future.
