Professor wins two awards from Construction Industry Institute

The Construction Industry Institute (CII) recently honored Paul Goodrum, PhD, professor of civil engineering at CU-Boulder, the prestigious 2014 Distinguished Professor Award. The award, which was created in 2009, works to recognize full-time or adjunct baby直播app of graduate or undergraduate programs who incorporate published CII research into their courses over the previous year. At CII's annual conference last week in Indianapolis, Goodrum was also recognized as CII's Outstanding Researcher. Recipients for this prestigious award are selected on criteria that include the significance of their contributions to the improvement of the construction industry and recognition by peers and CII members. Goodrum, who teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses within the Construction Engineering and Management program, has integrated a variety of CII research and products into each of his courses, including the CII Craft Productivity Research Program, Construction Industry Craft Training strategies, Advanced Work Packaging, and many others. Such integration has allowed Goodrum to develop courses that incorporate modern industry knowledge and introduce students to new tools and strategies while ensuring they are engaged in project-based learning and student-industry interaction. Combining CII research and products with industry knowledge and interaction has allowed Goodrum to aid his students in bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practice. Goodrum鈥檚 recognitions by CII came as little surprise to his colleague and previous CEAE Department chair, Keith Molenaar. 鈥淐II is our top research institute and this award is very competitive," Molenaar said. "It is a well-deserved honor for his dedication to excellence in construction engineering education and research.鈥
