The Pueblo County Chapter of the baby直播app Teacher Awards honored Yvette Padilla Teschner (Jour, Mus) as a 2019 baby直播app Teacher of the Year. Yvette has been an elementary music school teacher in Pueblo for 16 years.

Andy Rice (Bus) is parks and recreation director for Alamosa, Colo. He writes that Ture Nycum (Mktg鈥�90) and Ken Sherbenou (Econ, PolSci鈥�02;听 MPA鈥�06) are also parks and recreation leaders, in Fruita and Grand Junction,Colo., respectively, and all three serve on the legislative affairs committee of the baby直播app Parks and Recreation Association.

T. Jeffrey Fitzgerald (Math) was named to BTI Consulting Group鈥檚 2019 Client Service All-Stars list. Jeffrey is recognized for his work as shareholder in the firm鈥檚 healthcare litigation and disputes practice in Denver.

Kent Holsinger (Psych) was named in the Denver Business Journal and baby直播app Farm Bureau鈥檚 Who鈥檚 Who in Agriculture lists in 2019. He was also in the journal鈥檚 Who鈥檚 Who in Energy in 2019. Kent founded Denver-based Holsinger Law, LLC in 2006, which specializes in land, wildlife and water law.

Katherine Wegher Haney (Comm'93) is the public affairs director for North Carolina鈥檚 Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. When she isn鈥檛 spending time with her husband, two daughters and miniature dachshund, she volunteers as vice president of the nonprofit charity CDH International, a global initiative to find the cause and cure for congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a birth defect that occurs in 1 in every 2,500 babies.

After losing his sight at age 36, Trevor Thomas (Econ鈥�93) became a professional hiker. His guide dog, a black lab named Tenille, recently retired after seven years of service. Her successor is a golden lab named Lulu. Lulu is currently working on learning the items on Trevor鈥檚 shopping list and honing her backcountry navigation skills.

Serial entrepreneur, inventor听and search-and-rescue听volunteer听Steve Jewett听(Geog) is founder of听Clean Trails, creator of听National CleanUp Day.听He is the U.S. host of听World CleanUp Day,听which this year is Sept.听15. Steve has climbed听all of baby直播app鈥檚 fourteeners, plus Denali and听Aconcagua. On Sept. 15,听he encourages alumni to听join 380 million others in听removing litter or trash听in their neighborhood,听park, trail, river, lake,听open space or favorite听mountain peak. 鈥淥ur goal听is elimination of trash/litter to enjoy clean spaces,听rivers and oceans,鈥� he听writes.

New Mexico native Michael L. Connor (Law), former deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior, joined Boston-based law firm WilmerHale. He focuses on environmental compliance, natural resources and Native American law. While not an enrolled member of the Taos Pueblo tribe that his grandfather was part of, Michael is considered the first person of American Indian ancestry to hold one of the Interior Department鈥檚 top two posts.

Nashvillebased Correct Care Solutions, a public听healthcare organization, named Juan Perez (Acct) chief financial officer.

Valerie Arnold (Engl; MA鈥�97; Law鈥�00), a broker with Windermere Real Estate in Fort Collins, Colo., was recently named a trustee of the Poudre River Public Library District and to the transportation board for the City of Fort Collins. Valerie also was selected for Leadership Fort Collins, a program that educates participants on the needs of the community and strengthens leadership skills.

Sara McCabe (Anth, Econ) produced the feature documentary听3 Hikers, the story of three Americans imprisoned in Iran and their families鈥� fight to rescue them. The film involves scholar Noam Chomsky, political expert Gary Sick, boxer Muhammad Ali and actor Sean Penn. Sara and husband Eugenio live in California with their son, Ronan.

Brad Montgomery Anderson (Eur, Fren) and the University of Oklahoma Press won the Bloomfield Book Award for 2017 for Brad鈥檚 book Cherokee Reference Grammar. The book is the first major reference work on the Cherokee in more than 35 years.

Veteran TV producer Josh Bingham (Comm) will serve as senior vice president for Critical Labs, a new program that will give 10 millennial producers the resources to develop new unscripted projects for traditional media, digital and over-the-top platforms. Josh lives in greater Los Angeles.

In 2014 Clint Folsom (Bus) was elected mayor of Superior, Colo., and has entered the second half of his four-year term. Clint owns Folsom & Company Real Estate and manages several rental properties in Boulder that are leased to CU students. During his time at CU, Clint was a member of the 1988 Presidents Leadership Class and is still an active supporter of the program. Clint and his wife, Leslie, have two children who attend schools in Superior.

Boulder County-based real estate brokerage, Blazer Real Estate, LLC, owned by broker Ken Wiseman听(Mktg), calls itself Boulder鈥檚 first 鈥渄og-friendly鈥� brokerage and will be donating 5 percent of all sales commissions to an animal charity of the customer鈥檚 choice. This is Ken鈥檚 third real estate brokerage. He recently moved back to Boulder with his wife, Shannon, and four dogs after spending five years in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Jason Wyrick (MechEngr) was promoted to senior vice president of digital platforms at American cable and satellite television network Starz. He lives in Englewood, Colo.

Commander听John Plumb听(MPhys; PhDAeroEngr鈥�03)听is running for Congress in听New York鈥檚 23rd district.听He was commissioned as听an officer in the U.S. Navy听and spent more than six听years on active duty, with听almost three years on the听fast attack submarine USS听San Juan. He has since听worked in the Senate, the听Pentagon and the White听House. John received the听Arctic Service Ribbon for听spending more than 28听days north of the Arctic听Circle. John is still in the听Navy reserves, serving as听commanding officer for the听Maritime Operations Center听reserve detachment.

Lyn Schenbeck (DMus)听is retiring after more than听40 years as an educator. In听2013, she was named the听Coweta County Teacher听of the Year. In addition to听teaching, Lyn has performed as a singer and听conductor throughout听the U.S. and Europe. She听has also been an active听member of the National听Academy of Recording Arts听and Sciences, the organization known for the Grammy听Awards, for 25 years.
