Winnie is an Undergraduate Mentor and Psychological Sciences Researcher at the Crown Institute. Although she officially joined the Crown family in Aug 2023, Winnie is a familiar returning face, having contributed to pre-Crown pilot projects (Child Mindfulness Project) as a graduate student with founding babyÖ±²¥app member Dr. Yuko Munakata. Winnie received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of California Davis in 2023, her MA in Experimental Psychology from the College of William and Mary in 2016, and her BS in biopsychology from Tufts University in 2014. As you may intuit, Winnie has lived all over the US, and before college also lived in Guangzhou (China) and Toronto (Canada). Her native languages are Cantonese and Mandarin, alongside some French learned in Canada; she loves opportunities to use these languages when she can!
At the Crown, Winnie co-leads the Undergraduate Research Fellows Program and conducts independent research on youth development and well-being, with a focus on executive functions, mindfulness, and their measurement. Professionally, she hopes to build community partnerships that can help bridge the gap between psychological research and their applications. In her personal time, Winnie enjoys cooking with new ingredients and creating unique flavour combinations (taro and blueberry muffins were a recent success), discovering new eateries, hosting potlucks, and biking everywhere
