BOLD Scholars

For all BOLD renewable scholarships, requirements are broken up into 3 main categories: academic, BOLD programs, and scholarship donor requirements. Information regarding the requirements for renewing your scholarship are provided below.

If you are an Engagement, Participation, or Leadership Scholar you must also make sure to accept the invitation via your school e-mail for the "BOLD Scholars 2019 - 2020" course on Canvas. For each requirement you fulfill, you will take the corresponding quiz on Canvas to receive credit. These are accessible through the "Quizzes" tab on the left-hand side of the Canvas course page.

Academic Requirements

  1. Achieve a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.8 (for 2nd-year students)
  2. Achieve a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0 (for 3rd and 4th-year students)
  3. Must be enrolled in and successfully complete at least 12 credit hours per semester.
  4. Must be in good standing with the College of Engineering and Applied Science (academic standing, honor code, and student conduct)

BOLD Program Requirements

  1. Active involvement in a diversity-seeking student society. Criteria for active involvement is determined by each society—generally including attendance of at least 1 meeting or event per month.
  2. Attend the BOLD Scholars Fall Orientation Session during Engineering Launch Welcome Days in August

Scholarship Donor Requirements

Information regarding your donors is sent by Gretchen Lee.

  1. Send a thank you letter to your donor if they are named
  2. Attend a fall scholarship dinner if you donor attends

Academic Requirements

BOLD Program Requirements

  1. Active involvement in a diversity-seeking student society. Criteria for active involvement is determined by each society—generally including attendance of at least 1 meeting or event per month.
  2. Meet with the Director of the BOLD Community to discuss academic, professional goals and scholarship requirements once a semester.
  3. Attendance or service at 10 BOLD approved or sponsored events including Power Hours held every Wednesday from 4–5 p.m. Participation in at least 1 activity or event from each of the following categories is required:
    • Academic
    • Diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Professional
    • Social
    • Volunteering at CEAS or BOLD events

For 2nd, 3rd and 4th-year BOLD Participation Scholars, the following are required:

BOLD Program Requirements

  1. Active involvement in a diversity-seeking student society. Criteria for active involvement is determined by each society—generally including attendance of at least 1 meeting or event per month.
  2. Attend the Fall BOLD Scholars Retreat held in September
  3. For 2nd-year BOLD Participation Scholars only—Meet with your BOLD Scholarship Advisor at least once during the academic year.
  4. Attendance or service at 10 BOLD approved or sponsored events including Power Hours held every Wednesday from 4–5 p.m. Participation in at least 1 activity or event from each of the following categories is required:
    • Academic
    • Diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Professional
    • Social
    • Volunteering at CEAS or BOLD events
