- Pronouns: He/Him/His
Charles Ferrer brings more than 10 years experience in the world of public education, college success, communications and advocacy. With his upbringing being a first-generation college student in the United States, he is excited to share the voices of diverse BOLD scholars and the BOLD Center's student societies with the greater CU Boulder community.
Previously, Charles oversaw an internship program at DSST: Public Schools, a STEM-focused charter network in Denver partnering with organizations related to business, STEM, culture and advocacy to provide experiences for high school students. In that role, he also worked on college-going initiatives supporting predominately first-generation students with college and financial aid applications, along with family engagement. Charles worked at FORTUNE 500 companies handling corporate communications and media relations.
Charles served a three-year term for his local board of education from 2013-2016 back in his hometown of Bergenfield, N.J. right outside New York City.
He received his undergraduate degree in geography from Penn State University and will be pursuing his master's in environmental sciences at CU Denver. When he is not pouring through scientific journal articles, Charles enjoys hiking and searches for the best local coffee shops during his travels around the world.
