We鈥檒l encounter villainous kings, evil usurpers, and even a few charismatic heroes, as well as ill-fated lovers, deceitful rogues, social outcasts, wise fools, witty servants, and unruly women. Discover why Shakespeare鈥檚 characters continue to enthrall readers and viewers over 400 years after their first stage performances!
Readings will include: A Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream, The Merchant of Venice, Richard III, Hamlet, Measure for Measure, Othello, and The Tempest. We鈥檒l visit CU鈥檚 Special Collections Department to see early modern texts, artifacts, and students' projects. And, you鈥檒l create and present your own Shakespeare project to the class!
