Graduate Admissions

Graduate students within the  Department of English work closely on research and writing projects with the members of our graduate baby直播app, who specialize in all areas of literary, theoretical, cultural studies and creative writing. MA students complete a broad-based program in literature. MFA students work toward a creative writing thesis (a book of poems, a novel, or a cross-genre work). PhD students may choose a concentration in any area of English-language literature. The English department encourages and supports cross-disciplinary work for all of our students.

Starting with the fall 2024 admissions cycle, the English Department will be moving to an every-other-year admissions model for PhDs. This means that we will not be accepting PhD applications for the 2025-26 academic year. The next cycle for those who wish to apply to the PhD program will open in July 2025 for the 2026-27 academic year.

GRE scores are not required for the MA and MFA, and PhD programs. The admissions committee will not have access to any GRE scores that are submitted.
