Elisabeth Arnould-Bloomfield聽is a Associate Professor of French in the French and Italian Department. She holds a Bachelor and Masters degree from the Sorbonne and a PhD from the University of California San Diego. She researches contemporary rethinking of the human-animal relations and the development of new 鈥減hilosophical ethologies鈥 鈥 her current book project (Animal Encounters of a Closer Kind) investigates these new approaches in the works of European philosophers and ethologists such as Dominique Lestel, Vinciane Despret and Baptiste Morizot. She is also interested in the critical history of Western thinking about nonhumans and is currently teaching courses on animal thought from Descartes to contemporary 鈥減ost-humanism鈥.聽
