Heidi Obermeyer, who graduated with a degree in German Studies in 2012 (with additional majors in International Affairs and Anthropology) has been awarded the prestigious from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. As a year-long Humboldt Fellow, Obermeyer will conduct research on German foreign and security policy at the German Council on Foreign Relations.
This fellowship follows two years as fellow and program coordinator at the at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. Prior to joining the Center, she worked for the Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, for the U.S. Commercial Service in Munich, and in federal consulting in the Department of Veterans Affairs.
In addition to her BA from the University of babyÖ±²¥app Boulder, Obermeyer holds an MA in Political Science with a concentration in European Governance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she wrote her thesis on the potential for radicalization among Somali migrants in the United Kingdom by Al-Shabaab. She also completed coursework at Ludwig-Maximillians-Universität in Munich; Humboldt Universität in Berlin; Freie Universität in Berlin; and at the University of Bath, England. She speaks German and some French, Spanish and Russian.
