BEFORE YOUR FIRST SEMESTER:

Consult with the Associate Chair of Graduate Studies regarding your plan of study and to select courses for your first semester.Ìý

FIRST SEMESTER:
  • Register for 9-10 hours of coursework: RUSS 5110 or 5120; RUSS 5010-4 credits (native speakers are exempt from RUSS 5010); RUSS 5050, another graduate-level Russian course, an independent study, or a course in your outside area.

SECOND SEMESTER:
  • Register for 9-10 hours of coursework: RUSS 5020-4 credits (native speakers are exempt from RUSS 5020); RUSS 5230; one to two graduate-level Russian course(s), an independent study, or a course in your outside area.

THIRD SEMESTER:

  • Register for 6 hours of coursework: RUSS 5110 or 5120; another graduate-level Russian course, an independent study, a course in your outside area, or thesis hours (see the Graduate Program Assistant to register for thesis hours).
  • You should think about which babyÖ±²¥app members you would like to have on your exam committee.
  • Meet with your thesis advisor to discuss your thesis outline
  • Begin doing research for your thesis

FOURTH SEMESTER:
  • Register for 3 hours of coursework (if needed): graduate-level Russian course, independent study, or a course in your outside area.
  • Register for 3-6 thesis hours, as needed (Graduate Program Assistant can do this for you – send the GPA your request along with your thesis advisor’s name). Make a timeline with the chair of your thesis committee for submitting outlines and drafts of your thesis.
  • Early in the semester, schedule your thesis defense and notify the Graduate Program Assistant of defense date and time, and committee members.
  • Early in the semester, take the Russian language proficiency exam.
  • Begin writing your thesis, by the beginning of the fourth semester at the latest).
  • Submit Graduate paperwork to Graduate Program Assistant (due in late January).
  • Apply online to graduate though MyCuInfo (due in late January/early February).
  • Submit an abstract and preliminary copy of your thesis to your thesis committee at least two weeks in advance of your thesis defense.
  • Last day to defend your thesis is in late November (fall graduation) or mid-April (spring graduation).Ìý See graduate school graduation deadlines for exact dates.
  • Submit thesis to the graduate school electronically, along with a hard copy of the signature page.
