Associate Professor of German, Davide Stimilli will present his work, The (Wo)Man Who Vanished: Orson Welles鈥檚 Amerika, at a colloquium on Wednesday October 28, at 3:30 p.m. in McKenna 112.

This is part of Professor Stimilli鈥檚 on-going project on Franz Kafka and Orson Welles. He will discuss the relationship between Welles鈥檚 classic noir听The Lady from Shanghai听and Kafka鈥檚 unfinished American novel,听The Man Who Vanished. At least one critic has commented upon the more eye-catching similarities between the protagonists of these two masterpieces, but nobody has thus far relied on Welles鈥檚 original script to shed some light on his and Kafka鈥檚 dark vision of America.

Refreshments will be served.
