The Kasprzyk group recently attended three conferences. At the American Society of Civil Engineers Environmental Water Resources Institute meeting in Minneapolis, MN, Elliot presented our work on decision making for the babyֱ��app River Basin and Prof. Kasprzyk presented on a new reclaimed water project that Brendan is working on with Prof. Ashlynn Stillwell. Prof. Kasprzyk also discussed the water treatment plant optimization at the American Water Works Association meeting in Las Vegas, NV. And at the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society meeting in Fort Collins, CO, Billy presented his new time series analysis method for water quality data, and Mikaela discussed multi-objective optimization for building materials with an improved compressive strength statistical model.

We had a nice trip at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2017 Fall Meeting, held this year in New Orleans. It is the largest earth and space science conference, and a highlight of our year. Let’s look at the sessions, posters, and presentations from our group:

Monday:

I will be helping to convene a session called “Water and Society: Achieving Water Security Under Climate Change, from Cloud Computing and Extreme Event Modeling to Decision Support and Policy”, poster session Monday morning in poster hall D-F and an oral session from 4-6 pm in room 280-282 which features an invited talk by Prof. Ben Livneh and a talk from former group member Dr. Amy Piscopo!

Tuesday:

Talk H23O-06: “Bioremediation of Uranium-Contaminated Groundwater using Engineered Injection and Extraction” J Greene, R Neupauer, Ming Ye, J Kasprzyk, D Mays. Room 288-290, 2:55-3:10. Explorations of new techniques for remediating contaminated groundwater.

Wednesday:

Talk H32G-05: “Using multiobjective tradeoff sets and Multivariate Regression Trees to identify critical and robust decisions for long term water utility planning” R Smith, J Kasprzyk, R Balaji. Room 293-294, 11:20-11:35. Our new method, using Multivariate Regression Trees to reveal fundamental insights from multiobjective tradeoff sets.
