Angela Hansen is one of two new graduate students joining the Taylor Lab this fall!
Angela Hansen, a graduate in Biology from the University of Utah, will be joining the lab as聽a PhD student this fall. During her undergraduate Angela worked with Dr. Dale Clayton and Dr. Sarah Bush at the University of Utah on projects studying interactions of ectoparasites and blood parasites with their feral rock pigeon host. Angela鈥檚 research focused on the geographical distribution of pigeon avian malaria and its vector, the hippoboscid fly. After completing her undergraduate Angela continued working with the Clayton-Bush lab in the Gal谩pagos islands studying the effect of the invasive nest parasite, Philornis downsi, on fledging success of Gal谩pagos mockingbirds. Prior to starting her PhD in our lab Angela was in the Gal谩pagos with Dr. Kiyoko Gotanda, a Banting postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge, identifying the behavioral adaptations of Darwin鈥檚 finches in response to introduced predators.
