Join leadership practitioners from across the state for a day of connection and learning as we discuss how to address the challenges and opportunities facing our communities and institutions. Programming will include a networking lunch, afternoon breakout sessions, a keynote from a leadership futurist, and an evening reception.

The program is intended for leadership practitioners who serve as program staff at leadership organizations that work on college campuses, in communities, or represent civic leadership entities.

Convening leadership practitioners from across the state will result in greater collaboration and connection across babyֱ��app’s leadership ecosystem. Program details for this unique professional development opportunity, including breakout session topics, to come by June 15. Check this website after June 15 for those details.

The Future Forward Leadership Summit, presented by the International Leadership Association in partnership with the Center for Leadership, and thanks to the generous support of MetLife and the Jepson School of Leadership Studies, is a dynamic gathering of thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers from around the globe examining what leadership will look like 25 years in the future.

Following the summit, participants will be invited to contribute to a number of journal special issues, attend follow-up sessions at the ILA Global Conference in November, and serve as podcast guests to amplify the work done at the summit.

Leadership has never been more important than it is today. This conference is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the conversation about the future of leadership and leader development with the top minds is leadership from across the global.

Through collaborative discussions, participants will outline the knowledge requirements essential for leaders to navigate the complex and dynamic environments anticipated in the coming decades.

Shaping the Future of Leadership Research

Participants will forecast the trajectory of leadership research, identifying the domains that demand further exploration and the methodologies necessary to understand, dissect, and address the evolving nature of leadership.

This pioneering summit is expected to be a beacon of insight — fostering dialogue, and encouraging collaborative efforts among leaders and experts, ultimately reshaping the narrative and practice of leadership on a global scale.

CWA 2024 will take place April 10-12 with three full days of panels focused on a variety of topics from business, arts, science, technology, pop culture, international affairs, politics, media, and more!

This year we are also focusing on three exciting themes:

The Next 100 Years
With this theme, CWA will bring thought leaders, innovators, educators, and professionals from around the world to explore the confluence of technological advances and sociocultural imperatives that will shape the next century. We will encourage a dynamic dialogue on the challenges and prospects facing Gen Z and future generations. We will address the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on society, with the opportunities, risks, and ethical questions it presents. Our discussions may span from groundbreaking fields like quantum computing to the new horizons of space and aerospace research and impacts on health and culture.

Global Equity

The idea for this theme was born of discussions regarding the ideas of “Equity” vs “Equality.In addition to a historical perspective, and addressing topics of “where to from here,” we will address forward looking concepts such as whether or not developing technologies level the playing field in terms of Global Equity.In addition to specific attention to issues of the Global South, panels developed under this theme would address issues that affect north and south, such whether the old view is still accurate that the steady advance of democracy will accompany development.Finally, we will include discussions of the importance of systemic change, and the associated challenges in this era of social platforms that encourage quick reactions/quick fixes rather than long-term thinking and solutions.

Leadership

The University of babyֱ��app (CU) believes and invests in the leadership potential of all students. Part of that cultivation incudes learning from leaders of character who meet the needs of humanity in many different ways. In 2024, CWA will provide students, babyֱ��app and the community the opportunity to engage with and learn from a diverse set of leaders across the political, business, social, academic, athletic and arts sectors. We believe that everyone can be a leader, and these speakers will provide lessons from their own experiences, examining the characteristics that come together in leadership, the role of failures in successes, what to look for in a team, who to listen to… or ignore, and what is different about the next generation of leaders.

Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders will be a keynote speaker at the 2024 Conference on World Affairs (CWA) at CU Boulder in a co-hosted event with the Center for Leadership on Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. The center’s director, Stefanie Johnson, will engage coach in a discussion about his leadership on and off the field. The event is free and open to the public, with 40 percent of the tickets reserved for CU students. A ticket to attend is required.

A model for leadership across several areas and author of the recent book, “Elevate and Dominate–21 Ways to Win On and Off the Field,” Coach Prime will share his insights for how he inspires the next generation, his coaching team, his CU colleagues and his own children.

This year’s conference will boast 70 panel discussions, performances and keynote events with three main themes: leadership, global equity and the next 100 years. A 76-year CU and Boulder tradition, all of the conference’s events are open to all without charge.

Students and community members comprise the volunteer program committee that selected each of this year’s speakers and performers.

Experiential Leadership Intensive
April 13-14, 2024

Join us this spring for an Experiential Leadership Intensive at the CU Boulder Mountain Research Station. Participants will challenge themselves to step outside of their comfort zone while learning critical leadership lessons in the outdoors.

The weekend will begin mid-day Saturday and finishes early afternoon on Sunday.

The event is free of charge for all students enrolled in Center for Leadership affiliate programs! This includes food and lodging. However, students are responsible for their transportation. CFL staff will help to arrange carpools for students who do not have access to a vehicle.

Gates of Lodore, Green River, Dinosaur National Monument
August 19-23, 2024

Program Highlights:

Experience and explore the natural wonders of the Green River through the Gates of Lodore, and the breathtaking landscapes and cultural history of Dinosaur National Monument.
Learn the basics of multi-day whitewater rafting (paddling, navigating whitewater rapids, managing equipment, Leave No Trace camping, expedition behavior).
Practice being an effective member of a group and hone your leadership skills in teamwork and group development, communication, inclusion, and decision making.
Examine the complexities of river conservation leadership in the American West through field discussions with subject matter experts on policy, ecology, environmental and climate change implications and solutions, and Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and values.
Cost: $800, 4 nights, 5 days total (3 nights, 4 days on the river), includes transportation to/from Vernal, Utah, professional guides, all rafting and camping equipment, and most food.
Open to all undergraduate students, no prior river, outdoor or camping experience necessary.
The CU Boulder Student Code of Conduct and all university policies apply to this program.
