Fall 2024 | New Student Application Process
At this time, new incoming students can apply for the housing waitlist. Waitlisted applications are being processed as space becomes available. Be sure to check your colorado.edu email account regularly for updates on your housing application.
Before applying
Access to the housing application is granted after the following:
- $200 confirmation deposit has been paid to Admissions
- The Identikey security credentials has been confirmed
- Please note it takes 3-5 business days after completing both before the housing application can be accessed. This should be taken into consideration for any upcoming deadlines.
Admissions Confirmation Deadline Extended
Due to national delays impacting financial aid this year, CU Boulder is extending the confirmation date from May 1 to June 1 for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. Visit the Financial Aid Timeline & Confirmation Extension webpage for details and updates.
Application details
- We accept applications from March 4-June 5*, 2024. All applications completed during this timeframe are equally considered and selected at random for assignment, based on eligibility and availability of preferences listed in the application.
- The application may take 30-45 minutes to complete. It also will take some research before submitting preferences.
- Submit eight Living Experience preferences, if applicable to your major. We recommend diversifying your options and include at least three Traditional options in your list. If none of your options are available at the time of assignment, we will assign you to the next available Traditional option. Preferences are not guaranteed and you may get an assignment you did not choose.
- We have three options throughout our process for students to be assigned roommates, the first is in the application (to specific Traditional halls, RAP preferences cannot accommodate roommate requests) and the rest are part of additional options offered to students during June and July.
- CU Boulder Disability Services reviews requests for housing and food accommodations for students with documented disability-related needs, on a case-by-case individualized basis. If you feel you require a housing or food accommodation, please submit your request to Disability Services as soon as possible and preferably as soon as you have submitted your application to University Housing. Please do not rely on your preferences in the University Housing application to ensure your needs are met. For instructions to request a housing or food accommodation, please visit CU Disability Services Housing and Food Accommodations.
- Completed applications (signed contracts and paid deposits) will be collected and randomly assigned to their preferences based on eligibility, availability of room type and living experience.
- Preferences are not guaranteed, and students are assigned to the next best Traditional Experience if the selected preferences are not available.
- Students may be assigned to temporary rooms until a permanent assignment can be identified.
- We have 30 living experiences to choose from, don鈥檛 be afraid to contact University Housing at 303-492-6673 on M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. MT and Tuesdays 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. MT as we may be able to assist you in narrowing your preferences to those that are best for you.
