Joanna Arch in the news
CU Psychology and Neuroscience Associate Professor Joanna Arch (Clinical) was in the news, being interviewed for an article in baby直播app Arts and Sciences Magazine about her research on anxiety in cancer survivors. This research examines the usefulness of a type of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a way to reduce the anxiety cancer survivors experience, even those who have had successful treatment of their cancer. The effectiveness of ACT was studied in a novel way in her study, in that it the sessions happened in the community health setting where patients were receiving their cancer treatment, and not in an academic setting. They found that people receiving ACT had greater improvement in their anxiety symptoms even several months after treatment, as well as other positive outcomes (the research paper is now under peer review).
