The student application for the STEM Routes Undergraduate Research Training & Opportunity Program is open from Wednesday 1 September until Friday 24 September at 5 p.m..
We designed this program to provide training and support for students who have never had a research experience and have had to overcome significant adversity while earning their undergraduate degree. This program takes place over 24 weeks. The first 8 weeks (Fall semester) you will spend training on the techniques and knowledge needed to conduct experiments in your lab. The following 16 weeks (Spring semester), you'll be conducting your own experiments to investigate your research question in the lab. Throughout the program, you will be required to attend regularly occurring workshops to train you on an aspect of your science or professional development (this is also a great time to connect with your cohort!). Additionally, you'll be paired with a STEM Routes mentor of your choice, with whom you're required to meet at least biweekly.
Within the application, you will need to rank your top 4 preferred projects. If a lab has submitted several projects, please only list this lab once on your preferred projects selection and note which of the multiple projects you are interested in pursuing. Click below to access the full project list for the 2021–2022 Academic Year. You may apply for projects outside of your major or college, but some projects (as noted in the project listings) will give preference to applicants from within the department due to funding restrictions, however, you may still apply to those projects if they interest you.
Application requirements:
* Currently enrolled at CU BoulderÌý
* Majoring in a STEM field in either the College of Engineering & Applied Science or the College of Arts & Sciences
* Available to attend regularly occurring workshops in Fall and Spring semesters
Notification of Acceptance
Once you've submitted your application, we will notify you of our decision by October 1. The program begins the week of October 4, this Fall semester.
