Ronald Anderson, professor of education at the University of baby直播app at Boulder, has been elected chair of the education section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The AAAS is the world's largest general science organization with 144,000 members divided into 24 academic disciplines, one of which is education.

Anderson will serve one year as chair-elect of the education section beginning Feb. 19, a second year as chair and the third year as past chair and a AAAS council delegate. He will begin the sequence following the annual AAAS meeting in Seattle Feb. 13-18.

Anderson has been a CU-Boulder baby直播app member since 1965 and specializes in science education. From 1991 to 1995 he directed a national $690,000 study on curriculum reform funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

He is a former president of both the National Association for Research in Science Teaching and the Association for the Education of Teachers in Science. He also is an elected fellow of AAAS.

This year's annual AAAS meeting will mark the end of a year as chair of the psychology section for Alice Healy, CU-Boulder professor of psychology. One of the main responsibilities of AAAS section chairs is to organize sessions for their disciplines at the annual meetings.

The official research journal of the AAAS is the journal Science.
