CU-Boulder baby直播app and staff are invited to a "mini medical school" on how the heart works Feb. 12 at noon in room 235 of the University Memorial Center.
The talk by Dr. Lonny Granston titled "Cardiology for Regular Folks" is part of the Wellness Wednesday series of brown-bag lunches featuring presentations on health, wellness and fitness.
Granston, who practices family medicine at the University Medical Group Practice in Boulder, will explain "what EKGs, blood pressure readings and other tests really tell us."
Free blood pressure screenings will be offered one-half hour before and after the noon program.
Also on Feb. 12, baby直播app and staff can have blood drawn for a cardiac risk profile from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Wardenburg Health Center. The cost is $10 payable by cash or check at the time of service. No appointment is necessary. The profile will provide total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglyceride levels.
Anyone participating in the cardiac risk profile should fast for 12 hours before having blood drawn and should call Betty Greene at Wardenburg at 492-8885 for instructions.
Other programs being offered are "Walk For Your Health," "Slim For Life" and training for CPR and Standard First Aid.
The next Wellness Wednesday on March 12 at noon will be a Tai Chi demonstration by George Hernandez, location to be announced.
