The CU-Boulder Division of Continuing Education and the University Book Store will present three well-known baby直播app, who are authors, in a Lunch and Learn Series to be held at the Chautauqua Community House.
The lunch-time talks will entertain, provoke and inform, according to Gwen Thornton, academic coordinator in the Division of Continuing Education.
Participants will have the opportunity to purchase the authors聮 books and have them autographed after each presentation. Anyone interested in taking part in the series is encouraged to bring a bag lunch. Dessert and light refreshments will be available.
All presentations will be held at the Chautauqua Community House and will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $15 per session.
The Lunch and Learn Series includes:
聲 Kelly Hurley, an associate professor of English at CU-Boulder, who will present, 聯Victorian Gothic Literature,聰 on Friday, Feb. 27. Hurley will discuss 19th Century gothic literature, its importance within Victorian Britain, and its relationship to its monstrous descendants in today聮s horror literature. Hurley has written, 聯The Gothic Body: Sexuality, Materialism and Degeneration at the Fin de Siecle.聰
聲 David Harry Grinspoon, an assistant professor of astrophysical and planetary sciences at CU-Boulder, will present, 聯Venus Revealed,聰 on Friday, March 13. Grinspoon will describe humanity聮s changing relationship with Venus, and how the knowledge of Venus can help people take care of Earth. Grinspoon has written 聯Venus Revealed.聰
聲 Bruce Kawin, a professor of English and film studies at CU-Boulder, will present 聯Authors, Directors, and Auteurs: Who Makes a Movie?聰 on Friday, April 17. His discussion focuses on the 聯auteur theory聰 as it is applied in Hollywood and France. Kawin will examine the question of authorship as it applies to a movie.
His books include: 聯Telling it Again and Again: Repetition in Literature and Film聰; 聯Mindscreen; The Mind of the Novel聰; an introductory textbook, 聯How Movies Work聰; and the 5th and 6th editions of 聯A Short History of the Movies.聰
