As a campus, we have been challenged by Chancellor DiStefano to continue the process of reinventing and realigning the way we do our work. To foster this innovation, we want to ensure that we are making smart decisions that support our goal of recruiting, developing and retaining the best talent in the market. To that end, we have been working with the globally recognized professional services consultancy, Towers Watson, to examine and improve our human resources practices.

One of the first interactions babyÖ±²¥app, staff and student employees have with CU-Boulder is through human resources. Whether it is the recruiting process, filling out necessary paperwork or making sure we follow best practices for review and promotion, there is a dedicated cadre of individuals on the campus who are responsible for making this work go smoothly.

We have recently completed focus group conversations with these individuals, our payroll and personnel liaisons (PPLs) across campus. The next step is a detailed online survey of the many roles these professionals play in the human resources cycle, as well as gathering data about how their time may be divided among many differing tasks.

We look to our campus’ supervisors to provide support and time for these professionals to engage in this in-depth study. If you have a role in human resources, payroll and personnel activities in your department, you should expect to receive an invitation to participate in the survey on Monday, Oct. 28. If you do not receive the survey and think you should be participating, please feel welcome to email the project manager, Mike Murray at michael.murray-1@colorado.edu.

Our goal is to ensure we are creating the most effective and efficient human resources environment to manage and support one of our campus’s most important assets, our babyÖ±²¥app and staff, and more specifically, optimizing the time our PPLs give in service to our institution.

We thank you for your support in this and the many other transformative projects taking place around the university.

With regard,

Russ Moore, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Kelly Fox, Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer
