The University of baby直播app and Boulder Community Health announce today鈥檚 opening of the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center on the Boulder campus.听

The state-of-the-art facility in the new Champions Center at Folsom Field will enable the University of baby直播app School of Medicine and Boulder Community Health 鈥 longtime partners on community health issues 鈥 to provide people across the Front Range and beyond with unprecedented access to world-class sports medicine and performance improvement services.

鈥淭his dynamic partnership among CU-Boulder, the CU School of Medicine and Boulder Community Health will strengthen the health and wellness of the Boulder community and be a dynamic resource to the elite athletes of our region for decades to come,鈥 said CU-Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano.

The Sports Medicine and Performance Center is open to the public, including people of all ages and all levels of ability, from elite athletes to those recovering from injuries or embracing a healthier lifestyle.听

The center is housed on the entire second floor of the five-story Champions Center. Once the Champions Center is fully open, it will house the CU football program, several other Buffalo varsity sport teams and the athletic administration and ticket office.听It is located on the northwest corner of the CU-Boulder campus adjacent to the Dal Ward Athletic Center.

Specialty services offered by the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center include: medical evaluation and treatment of sports injuries; advanced medical imaging; physical therapy; performance sciences, including physiological and metabolic testing; gait analysis; sports nutrition; body composition testing; bike fitting; biologic healing modalities; sports-specific biomechanical analysis; concussion management; performance coaching; patient education services and an exercise physiology lab.

The CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center features a flume pool, allowing for swim stroke analysis, physiological swim testing as well as aquatic therapy and the latest MRI technology.

Care at the center is delivered in partnership with the University of baby直播app School of Medicine and Boulder Community Health. CU School of Medicine baby直播app members within the departments of Family Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Orthopedics have long served CU-Boulder athletes as team physicians in coordination with the CU Athletics Department.

鈥淭he CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center will provide serious athletes, weekend warriors and local citizens striving to stay active with access to rehabilitation and performance improvement services usually reserved for professional and Olympic athletes,鈥 said Dr. Robert Vissers, BCH president and CEO. 鈥淲e expect athletes from across baby直播app and neighboring states to come to Boulder to take advantage of this unique center.鈥

John Reilly Jr., dean of the CU School of Medicine and president of University Physicians Inc., said Boulder 鈥 being a health and wellness hub 鈥 is the perfect location.

鈥淚 am thrilled to be co-located within the Champions Center where our team from the CU School of Medicine and Boulder Community Health will come together to provide innovative evidence-based sports and performance medicine to athletes of all ages,鈥 Reilly said.

In the future, the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center plans to provide research opportunities for students, professional degree programs in integrated medicine and physiology, training camps and events. The center also plans to serve student-athletes and training staff from local high schools and to educate the community on issues of injury prevention, concussion management and nutrition.

鈥淚t is the vision of the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center to be a community, regional, national and international destination for athletes and active people who seek the highest quality of medicine and science to optimize their peak performance and quality of life,鈥 said Eric Medved, executive director of the center.

Medved also said it is his goal that the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center becomes the trusted source of information and resources related to human performance and sports medicine in the Rocky Mountain West.
