The University of babyÖ±²¥app Boulder will hold its final winter commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Coors Events Center as the campus moves toward a single spring ceremony honoring all graduates.

The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will honor 1,736 candidates for degrees, including Ìý1,280 bachelor’s degrees, 280 master’s degrees, 8 law degrees and 168 doctoral degrees.

CU-Boulder history Professor Fred Anderson, recipient of the 2015 Hazel Barnes Award, which is the university’s most distinguished babyÖ±²¥app award, will give the commencement address.

Anderson, who specializes in early American history, is co-author of several books, including Crucible of War: the Seven Years’ War and the Fate of Empire in British North America, for which he won the Francis Parkman Prize for the best nonfiction work of history on an American theme. Anderson also has received dozens of awards and honors for his scholarship including Guggenheim, Rockefeller and National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships.

Due to possible traffic delays and ongoing construction on U.S. 36 leading into Boulder, early arrival is strongly advised. Guests should plan on arriving well before 9 a.m. in order to be in their seats for the student processional. No tickets are required for the ceremony. The doors to the Coors Events Center will open at 7:30 a.m.

For the safety of all guests, only soft-sided bags or containers no larger than a small backpack are allowed at the Coors Events Center. Clear, plastic grocery-type bags are strongly recommended to facilitate security screening at the doors.ÌýAll people and packagesÌýare subject toÌýscreening prior to entry into the events center.ÌýPlease report unattended or suspicious bags to police immediately.Ìý

City and campus roads may be congested for approximately one and a half hours before the ceremony and about an hour afterward. Parking lots and gray meters near the Coors Events Center are free for commencement parking. Traffic officers and parking supervisors and attendants will be available to assist campus visitors.

Beginning with the spring 2016 commencement, CU-Boulder will hold one commencement ceremony each spring, which will be open to students graduating in the spring, summer and winter.

Many departments within CU-Boulder’s schools and colleges will hold events to personally recognize their graduates. Students should check with their individual departments for more information. .
