Over the next several months, the Campus Controller’s Office (CCO), which is responsible for financial accounting, reporting and financial stewardship on behalf of CU Boulder, will undertake a comprehensive realignment of personnel.

The goal of this approach is to optimize resources and increase quality of service. This restructuring focuses on serving:

  • CU Boulder babyÖ±²¥app, staff and administration
  • External agencies who provide funding for sponsored research

Carla Ho-a, associate vice chancellor of finance and business strategy, said the new structure is intended to build an infrastructure that delivers on our strategic goals to provide high-level service and financial resources support for the campus.

“After the restructuring, neither General Accounting nor Sponsored Projects Accounting will be separate entities within CCO,†Ho-a said.

She explained Accounting Services will fill the customer liaison role for campus units by expanding the successful Area Accounting model to encompass all funds. Reporting Services will provide key support within CCO and to CU Boulder’s external sponsors.Ìı

Ho-a added CCO Compliance will be minimally affected, and there will be no impact to the Bursar’s Office.

These changes were planned in response to formal and informal assessments conducted over the past year.ÌıCCO heard from campus department research administrators, principal investigators, and babyÖ±²¥app and staff from various areas in the campus community about service-delivery concerns for sponsored research support.

The first phase of implementation will begin immediately. CCO will work with each unit during this period to identify its CCO liaison(s) to ensure quality and continuity of service. A CCO all-funds advisory group will be convened to participate in setting service expectations and quality metrics from this restructuring.
