Denim Day
This month also features National Denim Day on April 25. Denim Day听originated from a 1999 Italy court case in which the National High Court overturned a rape case because the victim was wearing jeans. It was thought that jeans would have been too tight to pull off without the woman鈥檚 consent. The ruling sparked a nationwide protest where anti-rape activists wore jeans.听
On baby直播app Denim Day,听state agencies, businesses听and other groups are asked to allow their employees to pay $5 in exchange for wearing jeans. Employees听will receive stickers they can wear to let everyone know why they are wearing jeans.
Wearing jeans is a conversation-starter and visual sign of your support of survivors. Denim Day demonstrates the power of communities coming together to support survivors and take a stand against sexual violence.
