While studying babyֱapps and political science at CU Boulder, Keaton Brown was developing the startup company Statehill. Just a few months after a compelling performance in the CU Boulder startup competition, Statehill was acquired by Politico Europe, a joint venture between Politico and Axel Springer, a European digital publishing house.
Statehill collects legislative data and builds tools that enable a more productive and navigable legislative process, helping legislative professionals work smarter and stay connected. The Statehill platform is accessible and powerful—a borderless, seamless user experience focused on thoughtful design and comprehensive data to add maximum value to customer operations.
Brown, who graduated in 2018, pitched his legislative data collection venture in CU Boulder’s New Venture Challenge 10 competition, earning an Audience Choice Award, second place in the Information Technology Track Finals and a fourth-place finish at the championships.
Statehill was founded with a mission to connect legislative information around the world. Through the acquisition of our core technology, we’re excited to take our platform and existing data to a new level with the Politico brand and reach.” –Karl Bjelland, Statehill co-founder
With Statehill, Politico will launch a new platform, Pro Intelligence, combining world-class journalism with data and technology. The Pro Intelligence platform will include data sets from European institutions and national legislatures, including the UK, Germany and France. Core functionality from Politico’s existing Pro offering will be integrated into the platform, providing a comprehensive tool to connect users’ workflow in one place.
“The past several years, Statehill has built a top-quality data collection and analysis platform,”said Laurentius Roos, Statehill co-founder. “Combining it with editorial and functional expertise will strengthen the product offering and set it apart from everything currently available.”
