The CU Boulder Police Department (CUPD) is hosting free active harmer response classes for baby直播app, staff and students. No registration is needed; simply show up ready to learn what to do听in an active harmer situation, using a nationally approved safety protocol.听
The next class will be offered听Thursday, March 3,听10 a.m.鈥搉oon,听at the University Memorial Center (UMC), Room 235.听Walk-ins are welcome
CUPD teaches the course using the Department of Homeland Security鈥檚 鈥淩un, Hide, Fight鈥 program. Instruction includes a combination of video, lecture and interactive discussion, with time to answer questions. In the aftermath of events like the King Soopers mass shooting in Boulder nearly a year ago, officers will be sensitive to triggering language and visuals.听
The training highlights proactive response techniques developed by experts to increase the probability of survival in an active harmer situation. 鈥淐UPD is glad to be able to offer this free course,鈥 said Sgt. Eric Edford, who is one of the instructors. 鈥淲e鈥檝e had positive feedback from past participants and feel this is something we can do to help instill a sense of security in our campus community.鈥澨
