CU Boulder Provost Russell Moore today announced the search for a vice chancellor for research and innovation and dean of the institutes. He also named the members of the search advisory committee, chaired by Robert McDonald, dean of the University LibrariesÌıand senior vice provost for online and extended education.

“For this position, we are seeking a leader who has the vision and the energy to lead and coordinate CU Boulder’s vibrant and vital research and innovation mission,†Moore said. “We are looking for candidates who can leverage the value of research and innovation to our undergraduate and graduate students, and the opportunities our babyÖ±²¥app have to impact the world. Candidates should be adept at building lasting relationships with research partners in federal agencies and the private sector.â€

Reporting to the provost, the vice chancellor for research and innovation and dean of the institutes leads CU Boulder’s Research and Innovation Office (RIO), which oversees research development, research administration, research partnerships, research institutes, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Recognized globally for research excellence in areas including aerospace, biosciences, and earth and environmental sciences, CU Boulder’s research and innovation community attracted a record $658 million in research funding in fiscal year 2021–22.

In March Moore named Massimo Ruzzene to be acting vice chancellor for research and innovation and dean of the institutes following the retirement of Terri Fiez. Moore plans to appoint a permanent vice chancellor and dean in spring 2023.
