You likely know that the CU Boulder Police DepartmentÌý(CUPD) is a full-service department with police officers and campus safety officials. But you are probably most familiar with us—your residential service officers (RSOs).Ìý
If not, a bit about us: We patrol in and around your residence hall on a continuous basis, providing education and appropriate enforcement on those lower-level violations. You may have also met one of us at an event in your residence hall with your RA. We try to regularly engage with students in fun activities designed to create a sense of community and trust. We want you to know us because we are your partners. We care about you and your safety.Ìý
Safety and security in residence halls is a shared responsibility between you the residents and us the RSOs. We do our part to keep you safe, and as such, we encourage you to do your part as well.
Ways we canÌýwork together
- Please do not prop or hold doors open for others. Guests must be escorted into the building by a resident. If students notice propped doors, they can remove the object and notify their residential advisor.Ìý
- If you see an emergency occurring, or you or someone else is in danger, call or text 911.Ìý
- Be an effective bystander. Don’t ignore situations that seem problematic or indicators that someone is trying to take advantage of a person who is vulnerable.Ìý
- Remember, there are many ways to report concerns anonymously. These are listed on the CUPD website.Ìý
Talk to us if you have any questions, and thank you for doing your part to help keep fellow residents safe!
