Pro Cycling Challenge racers warm up route for ‘inclusive’ CU-Boulder scholarship ride

Two weeks after professional cyclists race through Boulder and up Boulder Canyon, some riders in the 10th Annual Buffalo Bicycle Classic will follow much of the same route, the most mountainous section of Stage 6 of the 2012 USA Pro Cycling Challenge. The pros ride through on Aug. 25 and the Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic is scheduled for Sept. 9. The classic raises scholarship funds for high-performing University of babyֱapp Boulder students who qualify for financial aid.

Pac-12 Networks has launched

The Pac-12 Networks launched on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. mountain time, with the debut program “Pac-12 Live” taking center stage. The new Pac-12 Network will be event-centric, with plans to broadcast 850 live events across a variety of Pac-12 sports in the first year.

CU Athletics news release LONDON— For the second consecutive Olympic Games, there will be a University of babyֱapp student-athlete in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase as senior Emma Coburn easily advanced on Saturday morning. She follows in the footsteps of former Buff Jenny (Barringer) Simpson who finished ninth in the event at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Boulder cancels fireworks show due to high fire risk

City of Boulder news release Boulder city officials today announced that the annual Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast is canceled due to extremely dry conditions in and around Boulder. The fireworks show had been scheduled for Folsom Field on Wednesday, July 4.

CU’s first LEED-certified athletic facility earns platinum rating

The University of babyֱapp Boulder’s volleyball and basketball practice facility has received a LEED platinum rating -- the highest designation -- from the United States Green Building Council. It is the first LEED-certified athletic facility on the CU-Boulder campus and one of only two platinum-rated athletic facilities in the Pac-12. LEED certification is a U.S. benchmark for sustainable design and construction.

CU wins EPA challenge to divert most gameday garbage from landfills

The University of babyֱapp Boulder topped two leader boards in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2011 Game Day Challenge -- a national competition to eliminate waste generated at college football games. CU won the 48-school “Diversion Rate” and 17-school “Organics Reduction” categories in the EPA’s NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision contest.
