CU-Boulder To Hold Banquet For Equity, Excellence On April 26

The Office of Diversity and Equity at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder will host the 1999 Equity and Excellence Banquet on Monday, April 26. The awards banquet dinner and graduation ceremony will be held at the University Memorial Center Glenn Miller Ballroom from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Equity and Excellence Awards are given to babyÖ±²¥app, staff and students whose accomplishments focus on efforts to promote the principles of academic excellence, cultural pluralism and diversity.

Chancellor's Lecture Series To Host Brass Quintet May 5 At Boulder Library

The ChancellorÂ’s Community Lecture Series will host the final presentation in its spring series with a performance by CU-Boulder Professor Willie Hill and his jazz quintet on Wednesday, May 5, at the Boulder Public Library. Hill, a professor of music education at CU and President of the International Association of Jazz Educators, will play his tenor saxophone.

CU-Boulder Professor Vernon Minor To Receive 1999/2000 Rome Prize

Vernon Minor, associate professor in the departments of fine arts and comparative literature/humanities at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder, has been selected to receive the Rome Prize, a fellowship awarded by the American Academy in Rome. The Rome Prize is the most prestigious grant for a scholar studying Roman art history in the United States. Minor's award is the National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship in the History of Art, as part of the School of Classical Studies.

UC-Berkeley Professor To Speak On Culture Of Trials, Lawyers At CU-Boulder April 26

Carol J. Clover, professor of Rhetoric and Scandinavian at the University of California, Berkeley, will present a talk on "Trials, Lawyers, Tricks, Sagas and Movies" at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder on Monday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in the Ramaley Biology building, room C250. Clover specializes in medieval literature and culture, feminist theory, film history and film and popular culture. Her recent publications in film studies have appeared in several international publications. She is currently completing a new book on trials and courtroom drama.

Robert Bly To Read Poetry At CU-Boulder On May 4

Internationally acclaimed poet Robert Bly will appear at the University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder's Macky Auditorium on Tuesday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. Bly, the author of "Iron John," "The Sibling Society" and "The Maiden King," is known for transforming his poetry readings into artistic performances. He will be joined on stage by Marcus Wise playing tabla and David Whetstone playing sitar. His visit to CU-Boulder will raise funds for the University Libraries cultural events project.

Offbeat Math Professor To Speak At CU April 28

"No one in their right mind would ever go to a math talk," said University of babyÖ±²¥app at Boulder Visiting Mathematics Professor Edward Burger, who will speak on campus April 28 on "Why I Hate Math But Love Museums." Burger, a mathematics professor at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., is not your run-of-the-mill babyÖ±²¥app member. He has written jokes for the Jay Leno show, put on plays involving construction workers proving mathematical theorems during their lunch breaks and had his own comedy radio show in college.
