Consider Giving

CU Boulder's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is pleased to announce the recipients of this academic year's student grants.Ìý With mentors in 26 departments, these students represent a wide range of disciplines and demonstrate how undergraduates advance the university's research and creative mission.

The recipients (named below) will receive funding to support their partnerships with project mentors this year.Ìý Students awarded Assistantships ($1,000 each) will be working closely with mentors to advance ongoing efforts.Ìý Individual Grant ($1,500 each) recipients will be working on original ideas supported by mentors. Project proposals were selected in a rigorous review process conducted by the UROP Review Board (named below).Ìý

The UROP team is encouraged by the many stories of resilience this year and thank the research and creative community for their high-impact work despite mounting challenges.Ìý We sincerely appreciateÌýthe many staff working behind the scenes to enable these opportunities from advisors and program coordinatorsÌýto the payment team in the Human Resources Service Center.Ìý We also thank our programming partners in the LEAD Alliance and the constellation of research programs: Biological Sciences Initiative, Discovery Learning Apprenticeship program, YOU'RE@CU, McNair, STEM Routes andÌýothers.

Well-documented as transformative learning experiences, engagement in undergraduate research and creative activities increases persistence to graduation, prepares students for the future of work, creates space for belonging—and is an effective approach to addressing social justice.Ìý UROP appreciates the university leadership for prioritizing the funding that makes this possible.ÌýBecause we understand that educational environments replicate the inequities of the societies in which they areÌýlocated, we areÌýcommitted to recruiting and supporting students who are historically underrepresented in undergraduate research and creative work.
