Areas of Emphasis Career Guides

The accounting area of emphasis is designed to prepare students for careers in accounting, general and financial management, financial analysis, taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems. There are typically two initial placement options upon graduation, beginning your career in corporate accounting, or earning your Certified Public Accountants (CPA) certification for public accounting. The CPA requires extra coursework to get to 150 credits – students have the option to go for a 5th year Masters Program. Download the Accounting Career Guide

The area of emphasis in Business Analytics focuses on the exciting and fast-growing field of data science and management. This interdisciplinary emphasis teaches students how to interpret and use data in driving strategic business decisions. Coursework emphasizes the application of new tools and statistical methods to solve problems in marketing, supply chains, operations and other key business disciplines. This technical, quantitative curriculum prepares students for in-demand roles as consultants, analysts and managers in virtually every industry. Download the Business Analytics Career Guide

The finance program is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level positions in the financial services industry, including career paths in corporate and public finance, banking, and personal and institutional wealth management. Students study foundational concepts in accounting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and macrobabyÖ±²¥apps as well as specialized areas including mergers and acquisitions, valuation, entrepreneurship, derivative securities, and foreign exchange markets. Students also benefit from access to the Burridge Center for Finance and CU Real Estate Center as well as numerous student-run clubs. Download the Finance Career Guide

In this program, you learn that entrepreneurial approach to business and apply it in solving problems unique to your career interests. This ensures you graduate able to work effectively in team settings, navigate complex organizations and advocate for your innovative ideas—and your value as a professional. To help you further define your professional ambitions, you complete a specialized track that gives you deeper industry exposure, preparing you to work in the field of your choice. Marketing students find career opportunities in digital marketing and analytics, making use of big data to understand and serve customers. They also take positions in sales and sales management, public relations, marketing and communications, advertising agencies, pricing, channels of distribution and logistics, retail management, international marketing and business-to-business marketing. The real estate area of emphasis is designed to prepare students for careers in the commercial real estate industry. While many CU students explore careers in the financial side of commercial real estate, this industry offers a vast array on career paths including investment, development, asset/ property management, title insurance, valuation, sales, and marketing.
