Creating and Using Learning Outcomes
Task:
Fill in the blanks to create a learning outcome for a course:
"By the end of this course, students will be able to ________ (action verb) ________ (specific skill or knowledge)."
Example:
"By the end of this course, students will be able to analyze data trends to make informed decisions."
Now it's your turn!
What are Learning Outcomes?
Learning outcomes are statements about what students can expect to know or be able to do. Communicating learning outcomes with students creates a shared understanding about the purpose and expectations of an assignment, course, or program. In this session, participants will create, evaluate, and refine course learning outcomes, and learn how these outcomes can guide decisions about course content, activities, assignments, and other assessments.
