Information Science helps run baby直播app NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Event

Faculty in the Department of Information Science and joined the ongoing effort at the University of baby直播app Boulder to run the awards event for the baby直播app NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award, now in its seventh year.  The event, sponsored by the (NCWIT), headquartered here on campus, has been run by Ken Anderson of the Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

This year, a team of baby直播app from across the the University of baby直播app in computer science, ATLAS and information science came together to plan an even bigger and better event, hosting a half-day long program honoring and supporting high school women鈥筧nd their teachers鈥箇ho are excelling in computing.

Sixty-nine high-school women were honored from across baby直播app. Faculty Casey Fiesler (INFO), Danielle Szafir (INFO), Ben Shapiro (ATLAS) and (CS) were supported by Edie Cheng, Kaivi Kumar, Ammi Ludwick, Ruthe Farmer and Lucy Sanders of NCWIT for the day鹿s activities, which included a pre-event workshop and a panel of technical women from industry and academia.

The event was a year in planning, with students, schools, and teachers from across the state applying to the program last fall.

Financial sponsors of the event included ViaWest, Twitter, the Zayo Group and Medtronic, who also contributed to the prizes that were given to the awardees at the event.
