Training Opportunities

Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) training programs are designed to prepare ethical, multiculturally competent professionals who are able to work in a variety of positions. Trainees are considered an integral part of the CAPS team and are included in the daily functions of the department. CAPS values the energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm trainees bring to the department and we look forward to welcoming them to our multidisciplinary setting.

CAPS Department

CAPS is affiliated with the Health and Wellness Services division of Student Affairs, and the main office is located in the Center for Community (C4C). CAPS offers confidential, on-campus mental health services for all CU Boulder students. We provide a variety of services, including brief individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, crisis intervention, psychoeducational workshops, mental health case management, consultations and outreach. CAPS maintains liaison relationships and embedded therapist positions across campus, and also provides consultation services to the university community (including babyÖ±²¥app and staff) on issues pertinent to college student mental health and development. Additionally, CAPS has a staff of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners to provide medication management to students and a team of behavioral health providers who work within Medical Services. One of CU Boulder’s key initiatives is innovation. CAPS is constantly evolving to best meet the mental health needs of students through creative program initiatives (e.g. telehealth, virtual reality therapy, canine-assisted therapy, Let’s Talk and online psychoeducation based platforms).

Our staff includes clinical psychologists, counseling psychologists, clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
