McHenry Chair in Global Human Development at Georgetown University and听Non-Resident Senior Fellow at Brookings Institution. His new book discusses progress in reducing听poverty, improving health, increasing incomes, expanding health, reducing conflict, and encouraging democracy within the past two decades.听The Great Surge tells the story of this unprecedented progress and discusses听why it happened, and what it may portend for the future.
