Logistics & Operations Assistant

The Mountain Research Station in Nederland, CO is seeking an employee to assist with day-to-day operations and logistics. Located at 9500 feet in the Front Range of the babyÖ±²¥app Rockies, the Mountain Research Station is an interdisciplinary facility of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (University of babyÖ±²¥app) providing research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public. Typically 8-hour shifts / 5 days per week in the time frame of 10am-7pm, with a total of 35-40 hrs/week. Occasional early morning and weekend work. Must be available mid-May to mid-August 2017 and have reliable transportation. Rustic cabin housing may be available at a very reasonable discount if needed. Hourly rate of $10.25-$13.20, compensation commensurate with experience.

Duties:
• Assist station manager in upkeep and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Assist dining hall staff with food prep and serving duties.
• Trash/recycling removal, cabin/lodge/bathhouse cleaning.
• Assist in office duties, including bookstore operation, answering phones, and general office work.
• Run errands to support station and research activities.

Desired Attributes / Experience:
• Self-motivated, punctual, and reliable.
• Comfortable and enjoys supporting and interfacing with guests and researchers who are housed at the Mountain Research Station.
• Enjoys working in a kitchen each day (~25%) to support meal prep for 25-50 guests each day.
• Strong communication skills. Communicates progress and status on work responsibilities and asks questions to fully understand work expectations.
• Hands on skills for grounds and building maintenance. Comfortable using basic power and hand tools.
• Willingness to learn and follow directions.
• Safety conscious, uses good judgement, and uses personal protection equipment during work activities.
