Professor Karl Linden Student's New Publication on Environmental Science & Technology
EVEN Professor Karl Linden's alumni Sara Beck who graduated from CU-Boulder with a Ph. D. in environmental engineering, researcher in water reuse and micro/molecular biology at Eawag Research, and Natalie Hull who is an environmental engineering PhD candidate (expected 2018), along with a few of their colleagues, recently had a paper accepted by Environmental Science & Technology, a peer-reviewed scientific journal. The publication is about how UV light not only causes damage to the DNA/RNA of pathogens, but some wavelengths also damage viral proteins. When the proteins are damaged the virus is prevented from infecting a human lung cell and causing a cold or flu.
