How to Apply
To be eligible according to the Department of Education, GAANN Fellows need to be U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents (Green Card holder) and have financial need, as designated by FAFSA. GAANN Fellows will be advised by two or more GAANN Faculty Mentors.
To apply, please submit the following materials to Shideh Dashti (please put GAANN in the subject line of your email). We prioritize applications received before Dec. 15, 2024 but will continue to review applications through Jan. 30, 2025. In addition, you will need to apply to the PhD program in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering and identify a sub-plan. The required items for the GAANN application are:
- A CV showing your name, contact information, relevant education, research, teaching, and work experience, volunteer work, publications and presentations.
- A statement (no more than three pages) describing your: (i) educational and career plans; (ii) interests and experiences in teaching, working with communities, and research; (iii) a brief description of your research interest and how the GAANN program theme (Inclusive Engineering for Climate-Ready, Smart, Sustainable, and Equitable Infrastructure) aligns with your goals; and (iv) names of two or more GAANN babyÖ±²¥app mentors you are interested in being collaboratively advised by and why.
- Having a completed 2025-26 FAFSA on file (), as award amounts cannot exceed demonstrated financial need.
