I am writing to inform you that our records indicate that you are eligible to apply for the voluntary retirement incentive program recently announced to the campus. The program offers one-time incentives to eligible babyÖ±²¥app and staff who opt to retire either Jan. 1, 2025, or June 1,Ìý 2025. The application period is now open.

A few key items to keep in mind if you’re considering this opportunity include:

Participation is voluntary: Each of you is a valued member of CU Boulder whose contributions have been vital to the university fulfilling its mission of education and research. Please know that units cannot require participation in the VRIP. Retirement is a personal decision to be made only by the employee, and influence from supervisor/colleagues is prohibited.

The incentives: Faculty and staff approved to participate in the program will receive the following:Ìý
- Faculty: 9 months of base pay, including for babyÖ±²¥app who work year-round (Note: Roles whose positions are funded through soft funding are not eligible.)
- University staff: 9 months of base pay
- Classified staff: In accordance with state law, up to 18 weeks of pay, determined by years of serviceÌýÌý

Application period/process: The application period for the CU Boulder voluntary retirement incentive program is now open, and the application form can be accessed via the VRIP webpage.ÌýÌý

The application period will close on Sept. 30.Ìý

Participation in the program is not guaranteed. Applications will be reviewed by the units, campus HR and campus leaders, and applicants will be notified by mid-October whether they are approved for the program.
- In addition to retirement eligibility, in order for applications to be approved, units must articulate a business case demonstrating that the retirement best serves the university’s interests.

Upon approval, employees will have the opportunity to review their specific incentive details and make a final decision on whether to participate.Ìý

Information forums: We will hold a pair of webinars on Friday, Sept. 6, and Wednesday, Sept. 11, where we will present on the VRIP and answer your questions. Registration for these is available on our webpage.Ìý
