New Group Member To-Do List
Email list / calendar / website setup.
Email Bre, or the current group IT guru, with the following information:
- Preferred email for the group email list. (Most likely your colorado.edu account.)
- Preferred email for accessing Chris’ Google calendar.Â
- I will follow up with information you need to send me for the group website.
Safety and RCR training.
- : Note that you must re-take the online safety quiz annually.
- (online or in-person course)
- (in-person course required)
- If you do not know whether you are funded by an NSF or NIH grant, find out from someone else in lab working on the same project, or ask Chris. It is MANDATORY to complete the necessary training in responsible conduct of research (RCR) if you are working on NSF or NIH funded projects.
- Schedule a run-through of the lab, including reviewing our safety procedures, with Justine, or the current lab safety proctor.
For incoming ChBE graduate students:
- Familiarize yourself with the department Grad Guide. This will be your go-to resource to make sure you are on-time in completing all requirements for your degree. Locate this form (as well as other useful forms) on the CHBE Current Graduate Students informationÌı·É±ğ²ú²õ¾±³Ù±ğ
- Every semester, you must fill out the Graduate Advisor Approval Form in order to register for classes or thesis hours for the upcoming semester. You will need Chris’ signature, and then give it to Dom in the main office.
Weekly individual meetings (starting in the Spring semester)
- On Chris’ calendar, there are blocks of time on Thursdays that are reserved for individual meetings. Please send an email to Chris if you are scheduling less than 24 hours in advance, or if you want to schedule outside the designated blocks of time. Do NOT delete/change anything else on the schedule.
- First and second year students that have not completed prelims should meet with Chris individually at least every other week.
- Everyone else needs to meet with Chris individually no less than once a month.
- Joint advisees should try to schedule a biweekly meeting with both advisors present, if possible.
- Please take note of days that Chris will be out of town (marked on the calendar).
- It is your responsibility to schedule these meetings.
Purchasing
- Before you make a purchase, make sure you know which speedtype (account #) it should be applied to. Each project/grant has its own speedtype. Ask Chris or someone else on your project if you aren’t sure.
- Use the Chem Store as a last resort using your BuffOne card.
- Dry ice and liquid nitrogen are also available to purchase via BuffOne card in the loading dock area. Make sure you know the correct speedtype to use for these purchases.
- Expensive purchases need to be cleared with Chris first.
