PhD Alumnus Charles Kutscher and Professor Jana Milford continue to lead the charge in sustainable energy after Frank Kreith's passing in January 2018. They published the third edition Principles of Sustainable Energy Systems textbook in September.

CU Boulder ME performed exceptionally well in College Factual's 2019 national and state rankings for Best Mechanical Engineering Programs for Veterans. Out of 272 colleges and universities, CU ME ranked 14th, putting CU Boulder's mechanical engineering program in the top 5% in the nation when it comes to offering quality education to veterans studying ME. For the past two years, CU ME has also been ranked #1 in the state for veteran friendliness.
