babyÖ±²¥app DiMA
Established in 2004, DiMA promotes the diversity of music, ideas and underrepresented identities at the College of Music. As a program of the CU Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, Diversity (LEAD) Alliance, we are committed to implementing diverse music and supporting musicians, composers and musicologists of varying backgrounds. DiMA builds community and empowers students through leadership, academic mentorship, scholarships, personal links to babyÖ±²¥app and staff, and community service opportunities.
DiMA students also champion diversity in performance through the College of Music’s Persevering Legacy project the spotlights women composers including those from historically marginalized groups.
DiMA participation requires students to maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or higher; students holding the minimum GPA are expected to improve it each semester. As members of the CU LEAD Alliance, DiMA participants may leverage free tutoring to strengthen their studies and boost their GPAs. DiMA students may also apply for a $2,000 annual grant through the CU LEAD program; grants are awarded based on financial need, academic merit and group participation.
Become a member
Membership in DiMA is open to all students, including undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. Members work cooperatively throughout the academic year, producing an annual concert that reflects the group’s diverse membership; and supporting each other by attending other members’ performances.
Activities + events
DiMA hosts regular coffee hours exploring inclusivity and representation in music. These gatherings offer a space for deep discussions—often with guest speakers—and learning from each other. Explore other activities + events including our next Persevering Legacy event.
