Commencement 2024

Celebrating the passage of our graduates into the company of alumni artists + scholars

On May 9, 2024, we’ll come together to recognize the accomplishments of our fall 2023 and spring 2024 graduates ... with pomp + circumstance! In addition to the College of Music recognition ceremony which will also be , the Class of 2024 will be invited to participate in the campuswide commencement ceremony held each spring at Folsom Field stadium; the approximately 90-minute university commencement ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m., this year featuring Steve Wozniak—co-founder of Apple and a technology entrepreneur—as commencement speaker. No tickets required.

2024 College of Music Recognition Ceremony: May 9, 3:30-5 p.m., Imig Music Building, Grusin Music Hall
Parking is available in Lot 204 and Euclid Parking Garage.
 

Schedule of events 

  • 11 a.m.–Doctoral Recognition + Hooding Ceremony (Ensemble Hall, S134)
  • 1:30 p.m.–Undergraduate Honors Recital (Chamber Hall, S102)
  • 3:30 p.m. ()–Recognition Ceremony (Grusin Music Hall, C112). Doors open at 2:45 p.m.; seating is first-come, first-served. No tickets are required, but seating in Grusin Music Hall is limited. We encourage our graduates to invite only close family and friends (2-4 persons) to the College of Music recognition ceremony; additional guests may observe the ceremony via livestream.

In 2024, the College of Music’s Thompson Jazz Studies Program debuted new takes on Sir Edward Elgar’s timeless “Pomp & Circumstance†theme for graduates of the University of babyÖ±²¥app Boulder. The traditional graduation march was reimagined by Associate Professor of Jazz Studies Paul McKee in three distinct, captivating styles: Latin jazz, New Orleans funk and big band swing!
