The Native name of the Investors & Indigenous Peoples Working Group (IIPWG) is Yethiya wihe', meaning 鈥淲e all give to them/We all invest in them鈥 in the Oneida language.听

IIIPWG comprises a broad coalition of investors and finance leaders who work to address challenges facing Indigenous Peoples globally and to mainstream Indigenous Peoples鈥 rights in responsible investment. The group also seeks to support and uplift Indigenous leaders鈥 participation in investment and shareholder spaces.

IIPWG focuses on four priority areas to:

1)听Ensure Free, Prior, and Informed Consent and uphold听the self-determination of Indigenous Peoples.
2)听Address the impact of extractive industries and the global energy transition on Indigenous Peoples and the environment.
3)听End the use of racist images, stereotypes, and cultural appropriation.
4)听Build investor and corporate support for Indigenous-led entrepreneurship and enterprise.

First Peoples Worldwide serves as Secretariat for IIPWG. If you would like to participate or learn more about IIPWG, please email fpw@colorado.edu or join the mailing list.
