How We Determine Residency

After you apply for admission to CU Boulder, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to access your .

There you'll find a checklist of the credentials we have and haven't received, as well as information on what you need to do next, if anything.

Our initial determination of your residency for tuition purposes is based entirely on the information you provide, so be sure to submit all requested documents in a timely manner.

Check Your Classification Status

Keep an eye on your for requests for additional information and your classification as a resident or nonresident for tuition purposes.

Since tuition classification is governed by state law, CU can't alter or waive the eligibility criteria for any reason, including financial hardship or academic excellence.

If the Tuition Classification Office has advised you to submit a residency petition:
